    Business Cards

For those who are getting started in business, I would suggest trying out Vista Print www.vistaprint.com for business cards. They have a great promo going on right now. It's only 3.99 for 250, 5.99 for 500 or 7.99 for 1000 of their premium cards. Don't be a cheapie and get the free ones because it limits you to their designs and they print their logo on the back which does NOT make you look professional. With the premium ones, you can add a logo for $4.99 extra and once you've uploaded it and paid the $4.99 once, you don't have to pay it again on reorders. I've ordered from Vista Print before and was VERY pleased with my cards.

With their current promo (and adding a logo), your cards from them will cost:
    14.23 for 250     3.99+ 4.99 logo +5.25 shipping
    17.93 for 500    5.99+ 4.99 logo +6.95 shipping
    20.23 for 1000    7.99+ 4.99 logo +7.25 shipping

Also, sometimes when you place your order, it will allow you to upgrade the number of cards for very cheap. I ordered 1000 cards today (mine are 2-sided, which costs $5 more) and it let me add another 500 cards for $3.74 more, no extra shipping or other fees.

Please be careful when using Vista Print. Do not click on any pop ups or other ads. They catch you by clicking on the ads and it automatically charges your credit card you use $9.99 a month from some "sub company" of vista prints. I will have to post what the sub company charge was...I do not remember off hand.

I got caught in this using them. And it took close to 6 months for them to refund my credit card.

Just wanted to share a mishap with them.

I get mine at Staples and wait for their copy center coupons to get a % off and to me they look more professional than Vista Prints and don't have their web address on the back. I have had customers go to Vista Print and email them to order a cake thinking I was connected to them.

Just to restate what I had said before, DON'T get the lame free cards because it makes you look unprofessional. With the "premium" cards there is no vistaprint logo on the backs of them.

Also, clicking a pop-up DOES NOT allow a company to charge your credit card. You should always READ what you are clicking. If you have provided them with your credit card info and then you click a "yes, sign me up" box, instead of a "no thanks" box when they offer you an additional service, then you are giving them permission to bill you for it.

We once had a client that we did a lot of IT and marketing consulting for. One day, the company owner called in a total panic... "My laptop has died and I can't get it to work. I was using it and it kept popping up a box at me and I had to click to make it go away. What am I gonna do? I can't afford a whole new computer right now!" So I asked, "What did the windown say?" to which she responded, "I don't know, I just clicked it to make it go away. It came up a few times though"... So hubby drove 20 minutes to where she was to discover... "Um, your battery is dead. The window popping up was telling you to save your work and plug your computer in."

The moral of the story... READ things you click on!

    Hugs, Trish
